Teleconference depositions are a unique form of deposition, that allow the legal system a manner in which to obtain much-needed depositions, without the need for the physical presence of the individual. This type of deposition must meet the same stringent standards that other depositions must meet, as far as truthfulness in the rendering of the information. If the deposition that is required is to be used in a court of law, an oath must be taken by the individual who is providing the deposition, just as they would if they were giving the deposition in a court of law. Depositions are an important part of many courtroom cases, and provide much-needed pertinent information, that may have a significant impact on the case in question. In felony cases, depositions may have the effect of influencing the jury and or judge, as to the probability of the guilt or innocence of the person charged with a crime. Teleconference depositions have just as much significance in a court of law as any other type of deposition, with the same potential effect on the outcome of the case.

Ontario teleconference depositions, can have major impacts on cases other than criminal cases. Civil cases may require depositions, in order to prove or disprove the liability of individuals being sued by another party. Teleconference depositions are important in these cases, because they provide pertinent information that may have great significance as evidence that the judge and/or or jury will evaluate, and use in the decision-making process.

One of the key assets that Ontario teleconference depositions have to offer, is that they provide individuals involved in legal proceedings the ability to carry out their duties, while located in different areas of the country. In essence, the opposing attorneys in the case may be located in different areas of the country from each other, and their clients. The opposing parties in the proceedings may be located in different cities from each other, and still be able to state their cases effectively. The key link that makes all of this possible, is the court reporter. A speaker phone is located at the same location as the reporter, so that the court reporter can keep an accurate account of the proceedings, and so that all parties can speak and be heard by everyone involved in the process. This makes Ontario teleconference depositions an efficient and economical alternative to other forms of depositions in use.
